This wetland that attracts many birds is one of the best places for birding on the island of Kefalonia.
More than 100 bird species have been seen in Levadi marsh . On one side this semi-flooded marsh area is bordered by the sea. A road to a quarry runs on one side along from the sea and on the other side the marsh is overlooked by a hillside. The small wetland attracts wading birds such as silkkihaikara, jalohaikara, rääkkähaikara and tavi. Also kuningaskalastaja can be seen. The surrounding reeded pools, scrubland and fir trees also attract tits, finches, ruskosuohaukka and samettipääkerttu. It’s also common to see mehiläissyöjä and buzzards and eagles in this area.
Easy access via the road to Lixouri, ample parking by the roadside. Access on foot and by bicycle.
