Description
The Weingartener Moor is an interesting place to visit and can host a good variety of bird species. The varying levels of water throughout the year adds a certain dynamic and an element of surprise. When there are open areas of water, there are good numbers of geese and ducks present. merihanhi, kanadanhanhi, sinisorsa, harmaasorsa, punasotka, tukkasotka, tavi, nokikana and pikku-uikku are all regularly seen here.
Receding water levels and muddy fringes can attract birds such as taivaanvuohi and metsäviklo. In August 2023, a juvenile karikukko was even observed here! The surrounding woodland is home to a good number of species and is a good place to look for kulorastas, tammitikka and pikkutikka. If you are lucky, you may see a nuolihaukka hunting dragonflies in summer.
