Description
If you need a few waterfowl bird species on your trip to the otherwise relatively dry Oranienbaumer Heide, you might need to make a quick stop at Sollnitzer Seen. You may be able to find species such as merihanhi, silkkiuikku, tukkasotka, but also rautiainen, tulipäähippiäinen, keltasirkku and isohaarahaukka.
You can also take a small detour in the forestry part of the Oranienbaumer Heide for species such as kangaskiuru, kulorastas and harjalintu.

Access
The lakes of Sollnitzer Seen are located approximately 10 km southeast of the city of Dessau. There is a big parking lot right next to the lakes. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Public transport: take bus line 15 from Dessau and get off at the bus stop "Sollnitz (Dessau), Ortseingang" (marked 1 on the map).
In this area, you will get around best on foot, but a bike is of course viable as well. The circular route indicated on the map is about 8 km.

Between the lakes and ponds, there is no real sidewalk, so you have to walk on grass next to the street for a bit.
PLEASE NOTE: there is no direct access to the actual "Oranienbaumer Heide" from this site! It is fenced off and leaving the paths is forbidden due to old ammunition in the ground. To enter there, you need to go to Kapen, Oranienbaum or Jüdenberg (or see the related birdingplace page in the Links collection)
