Description
The Schlossgarten is a green oasis generously spread out behind the city's main landmark, the palace. It is a mix of classic park and woodland, very easy to access and home to over 100 bird species. Some of the highlight species to look out for in the forested areas of the park are palokärki, tammitikka, töyhtötiainen, tulipäähippiäinen and nokkavarpunen. If you are lucky, you may even hear or catch a glimpse of a lehtopöllö.
The ponds are home to a good number of waterbirds, including sinisorsa, merihanhi, nokikana, Liejukana and harmaahaikara. There are numerous routes and paths to explore. The drawn route (3 km) is a suggestion that takes in a mix of all the habitats the park has to offer.
