Nature reserve in the floodplains of the river Moselle. The old quarry ponds, river, open fields and grasslands attract a variety of birds.
In a loop of the river Moselle in the far northeast of Trier lies the Kenner Flur. Birds can be observed in the lakes created by gravel mining, in the adjoining patches of forest and in the surrounding open fields. The shores of the quarry ponds are steep and ideal for törmäpääsky, which can create their nesting burrows here. Among the birds you can encounter are silkkiuikku, pikku-uikku, harmaasorsa, pikkutylli, töyhtöhyyppä, jänkäkurppa, taivaanvuohi, merimetso, isohaarahaukka, kiuru, pensaskerttu, etelänsatakieli, keltavästäräkki and keltasirkku.
The Kenner Flur is located in a loop of the river Moselle 8 km northeast of Trier near the village of Kenn. You can park just north of the village. Click on the P in the map for directions.
