Description
Waders stop at the Holzendorfer See during the spring and autumn migration. Maybe not in huge numbers, but there is a large species diversity: suokukko, töyhtöhyyppä, valkoviklo, mustaviklo, punajalkaviklo, liro, rantasipi, metsäviklo, suosirri, kuovisirri, pikkusirri, lapinsirri, tylli and taivaanvuohi. There is a chance for rarer species like jänkäsirriäinen, isosirri and pulmussirri. Also observed here are palsasirri and suohyyppä. In the spring, all the "spring" ducks also stop here: Lapasorsa, jouhisorsa, heinätavi, tavi and haapana. In late autumn you can meet here a large number of Kurki and laulujoutsen. During the breeding season töyhtöhyyppä, kalatiira, pikkutylli and merihanhi nest here.

Access
Preferably by car. Holzendorfer See is about 15 minutes from Prenzlau. The village of Holzendorf can also be reached by bus. The route along the lake runs along an overgrown dirt road from the village on the southern bank of the water reservoir, from where there is the best access.
