A large recreational area called Little Baltic Sea southwest of Frankfurt Oder (Brandenburg) resulting from the former brown coal mine Grube Helene.
A visit to Helenesee is particularly worthwhile in winter, when you have a good chance of observing resting or wintering water birds such as laulujoutsen, pikkujoutsen, uivelo, isokoskelo, kuikka, kaakkuri, gulls, grebes and sea ducks.
There is a huge parking area from where you can enter the Freizeit und Campingpark Helene-See. The shores of the lake have been closed to bathers since spring 2021 due to a landslide until further notice (as of December 2022). However, the peripheral areas are accessible for observers.
