Description
Haselbacher Teiche is a complex of 16 former fish ponds that has been renatured and now is a nature reserve of 125 hectares. The area has ponds, reed beds, wet meadows, near-natural streams, orchards and floodplain-forest. The area has become an important breeding and resting place for many birds. Among the birds you can encounter are rastaskerttunen, ruokosirkkalintu, kalatiira, Kuhankeittäjä, pikkulepinkäinen, pajusirkku, keltasirkku, etelänsatakieli, viitatiainen, ruskosuohaukka, sääksi (kalasääski) and different species of ducks, grebes, herons and geese.

Coming from Haselbach turn right after house number 25 (Altenburger Str.) After about 150 m the ponds are on the right and left. You can also reach the ponds from train station Haselbach. On the map you see a 7,5 km circular walking route around the ponds that starts at the train station.
