An artificial lake and former mining pit near the village of Gröbern.
The Gröberner See emerged from the former Gröbern open-cast mine. The lake offers a range of birds living on and near the water, in the reedbeds, as well as in the surrounding forest. Here, you can find species such as kalatiira , silkkiuikku , tukkasotka , rastaskerttunen , viiksitimali , käenpiika and harmaasieppo.
The Gröberner See is located 26 km southeast of Dessau, and just north of the village of Gröbern. There is a parking lot at the southern end of the lake. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
From the parking, you can take a walk, potentially even around the lake (about 9 km). You can also take a bike. The surrounding road isn't always close to the water and the forest blocks the view quite a lot. But there are several spots from where you have a nice view onto the Gröberner See.
