Description
The Bucher Stausee is a reservoir located in the suburb of the same name, Buch, in the municipality of Rainau. Most interesting part for birders is the "Vorbecken Buch" bird sanctuary. A 5 hectare basin where numerous rare bird species have already appeared. Different species of ducks, geese, divers and herons can be seen all year round. There are also migratory birds, especially waders, which rest in the shallow water of the Vorbecken Buch and build up fat reserves for onward migration. A whole range of interesting birds of prey and with a bit of luck also seagulls, terns and kuningaskalastaja can be found as well as various ducks, geese, ruostesorsa and isokoskelo that winter in the Vorbecken Buch. But also smaller birds like keltasirkku, pajusirkku, virtavästäräkki and mustapääkerttu. See the birdlist below.
