Description
During migration and winter the water bodies can host lots of ducks if they have not been flushed by fishermen or hunters, among which several dozens of punasotka and tukkasotka and several hundreds of nokikana . A rarity such as the pilkkasiipi or lapasotka is always possible in winter. Still in winter but above all during October-November and March the wet grassland is a very good spot for taivaanvuohi and jänkäkurppa.
In summer typical breeders include kalatiira and silkkiuikku on the lake, pikkulepinkäinen in the bushes or niittykirvinen in the grassland.
In late summer and early autumn when water level drops the south-western water body can be very good for waders particularly liro or for a mustahaikara stopover. In spring when water level is higher, mustatiira , valkoposkitiira or pikkulokki are regularly seen foraging over water.
