Typical small village in rural France with a surprising number of birds that can be seen.
Blangey le Bas is a rural village 20 minutes north of Autun, in the rolling hills of Bourgogne. Around the village you can see and hear mehiläissyöjä (plenty), harjalintu , isohaarahaukka, haarahaukka, Kuhankeittäjä, pikkulepinkäinen, mustaleppälintu, tikli, hemppo, keltasirkku, all in abundance. And if you're lucky you can see mustahaikara. Plenty of owls can be heard. Good luck spotting those! Of course also more common species like swallows, pigeons etc. Five minutes further on is another good spot for birdwatching (morning or 2 hours before dusk). This place is a few minutes uphill from the neighbouring hamlet of Roche (3 houses!). Take the road 'Ham. de Roche' up the hill and keep following the road until you come across overhead electrical lines. On your right hand side is a fence and you can park your car at the side of the road. This is where I spotted 3 Kuhankeittäjä and several keltasirkku early June 2021. The Kuhankeittäjä can be heard in the forests in the surroundings every morning.
Best explored by car and on foot. You can park anywhere at the side of the road.
Haven't been in here in Winter. And in Autumn only once when I wasn't into birdwatching yet, so I can't say what can be seen in those periods.
