The Rhine is used as wintering area by waterbirds such as punasotka, tukkasotka, and a few gulls. muuttohaukka is often seen hunting or perched on the buildings in the industrial area nearby. ruskosotka and isokoskelo can also be found. A few scarcities have been seen here, mostly in winter but also in migration period such as pikkumerimetso, alli or pilkkasiipi.
