Description

Järvelä wetland is located north of Lake Littoistenjärvi in northern Kaarina. Within a few years, the wetland has become one of the top bird sanctuaries in the province of Southwestern Finland. The area is populated by more than twenty wetland species. mustakurkku-uikku, laulujoutsen, Liejukana and heinätavi nest here.

Järvelä wetland is a flooded field area with an exceptionally rich variety of species. For bird watchers, there is a bridge with unrestricted access. Järvelä wetland is situated on the border of Kaarina and Lieto, and across the border in Lieto, there is a bird watching tower as well.

Access

Easy to reach if you are in Turku. 15 min drive. If you arrive by car, there is a parking lot at the crossroads of Järveläntie and Vanha Littoistentie roads, from where you can take a short walk to the bird observation bridge. For the disabled, there is a wheelchair ramp to the bridge. By bike or on foot you can reach the platform easily. Nearest parking lot is 400 m from the flat, very close to the wetland.
