Description
The Koppenbergbos is a deciduous forest where you can enjoy woodpeckers such as käpytikka as a common species and the tammitikka as the rarest. The large trees and the low-lying wood are good for pähkinänakkeli, etelänpuukiipijä and viitatiainen. The bushes are home to smaller songbirds such as tulipäähippiäinen, hippiäinen and classics such as peippo, mustapääkerttu supplemented with järripeippo in winter. For several years now, as in many forests in the Flemish Ardennes, there has been the presence of huuhkaja.

Nederlands: Het Koppenbergbos is een hellingbos met als primaire soorten beuken als boomsoort waar je kan genieten van pähkinänakkeli, viitatiainen en andere soorten. In dit loofhoutbos kun je spechten als käpytikka zien als algemene soort en ook de tammitikka als de meeste zeldzame. De grote bomen en het middelhout is dan weer goed voor pähkinänakkeli, etelänpuukiipijä en viitatiainen. In de struiken zitten de kleinere zangers zoals tulipäähippiäinen, hippiäinen en de klassiekers zoals peippo, mustapääkerttu aangevuld met järripeippo in de winter. Sinds enkele jaren is er de aanwezigheid zoals in vele bossen in de Vlaamse Ardennen van huuhkaja.

Access
The Koppenbergbos is located just south of Oudenaarde. There is a parking lot at the end of the Maria van der Gheynststraat. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The circular walk indicated on the map is approximately 4 km.
