Fort 3 Borsbeek has a varied nature. The fort moat is one of the few open waters in the area and therefore fulfils an important natural function. In autumn and winter, numerous water birds come here to rest and forage, such as harmaasorsa, tukkasotka, punasotka and tavi. In spring, the fort moat and the fort pond are very important for amphibians such as toads and frogs. In summer, there are many songbirds in the area, such as peukaloinen, punarinta, mustapääkerttu, and laulurastas. Woodpeckers, kuningaskalastaja, varpushaukka and hiirihaukka also make use of the trees and undergrowth on and around the fort.

Nederlands: Fort 3 Borsbeek is een fort uit de Antwerpse fortengordel. De afwisselende natuur rond het fort kan je ontdekken via een mooie wandelroute. De fortgracht is een van de weinige open waters uit de omgeving en vervult dan ook een belangrijke natuurfunctie. In het najaar en de winter komen talrijke watervogels hier uitrusten en foerageren, zoals harmaasorsa, tukkasotka, punasotka en tavi. In het voorjaar zijn de fortgracht en de fortvijver heel belangrijk voor amfibieën zoals padden en kikkers. In de zomer zijn er veel zangvogels, zoals peukaloinen, punarinta, mustapääkerttu, en laulurastas in het gebied aanwezig. Ook spechten, kuningaskalastaja, varpushaukka en hiirihaukka maken gebruik van de bomen en ruigte op en rondom het fort.
