Description

The beauty of Panboola is that contains a number of different ecosystems ranging from eucalypt forests to open paddocks, fresh water billabongs and salt marsh and mangrove communities. A series of easy walking paths connect these various areas.

The constant wetting and drying cycle of the wetlands attracts many birds including Egrets, Spoonbills, Cormorants, Darters, Swamphens and Coots, as well as Dotterels and Chats, Kingfishers, Reed Warblers, Treecreepers, birds of prey etc. Over 170 bird species have been identified at Panboola

During Summer Latham's Snipe can be found and Gang-gang Cockatoo can be easily observed. Throughout the year the elusive Southern Emuwren can be found and a great range of Honeyeaters are attracted to nectar producing flowers.
