Descripción

Weymouth gets very busy during the Summer peak holiday season and is best avoided during this time. Weymouth Harbour is protected by The Nothe and Pavilion Piers, two Easterly projecting peninsulas giving excellent views of the bay. During Winter Serreta Mediana, Éider común, Negrón común, Somormujo Lavanco and Colimbo Grande are the most common, smaller numbers of Colimbo Chico, Colimbo Ártico, Pato Havelda, Zampullín Cuellirrojo, Zampullín Cuellinegro, Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Arao Común and Alca Común can be expected. During Spring returning Charrán Patinegro, Charrán Común and Charrancito Común are usually seen. During periods of prolonged freezing conditions Porrón Bastardo, Serreta Chica and Serreta Grande seek out the bays sheltered conditions. During Autumn Nothe Gardens can hold Reyezuelo Listado, Papamoscas Cerrojillo and Collalba Gris (an early morning visit is best). Autumn gales especially from the East can give seabirds such as Paíño Europeo, Gaviota Enana and Gaviota de Sabine. Weymouth Bay has an extremely large Gaviota Reidora roost during Winter months. From Pavilion Pier check carefully through the flock for more unusual species.
