Descripción

A large area of woodland managed by the Forestry Commission, whilst the woodland is mostly coniferous, there are areas of deciduous trees for added interest.

(*1) (press STAR on map), the woodland North of the car park is called Park Wood, this ever changing part of woodland has some clear-felled areas with scrubland making it good for Ruiseñor Común and Buscarla Pintoja, other clear areas have Bisbita Arbóreo, Mosquitero Musical, Curruca Mosquitera, Curruca Zarcera, Camachuelo Común and Escribano Cerillo. At dusk Chocha Perdiz and Cárabo Común are a distinct possibility. Dense areas of conifers have Carbonero Garrapinos, Reyezuelo Listado and Reyezuelo Sencillo.

(*2), the long central firebreak consisting of conifers and some good areas of deciduous trees, can have Tórtola Europea, Papamoscas Gris and Cuco Común during Summer. Later in the year the ever secretive Chocha Perdiz can also be found here. More mature conifer areas have Reyezuelo Listado, Reyezuelo Sencillo, Carbonero Garrapinos and Jilguero Lúgano, listen out for the calls of Piquitureto Común high-up in the canopy.

(*3), farmland and hedgerows on the Eastern side of the woodland (there is a short out and back footpath), can have Curruca Zarcera, Curruca Zarcerilla, Mosquitero Musical, with Vencejo Común and Golondrina Común feeding over fields in Summer. Escribano Cerillo, Pardillo Común , Jilguero Europeo and Camachuelo Común can be found here, check field edges for Perdiz Roja and Mochuelo Europeo.

(*4), this Hedgecock Wood section of both woodland and open fields has Cárabo Común, Pito Real, Pico Picapinos, Paloma Zurita, Zorzal Charlo, Agateador Euroasiático, Arrendajo Euroasiático, Carbonero Palustre, Mito Común. During Spring/Summer expect Ruiseñor Común, Cuco Común and Tórtola Europea.
