The Trent Port area is flat and overlooks a number of fields and the River Trent. The River Trent is a good location for Andarríos Chico during passage, Garceta Común and Martín Pescador Común. The surrounding fields and hedgerows have good numbers of Perdiz Roja, Escribano Palustre and Escribano Cerillo. 150 species have been recorded here including local scarcities such as Mosquitero Silbador, Picogordo Común, Gaviota del Caspio and Papamoscas Cerrojillo whilst Agachadiza Chica and Serreta Grande are annual visitors. In winter the River Trent is prone to flooding the fields, which provide some additional ornithological interest. Species recorded during floods includes Cuchara Común, Ánade rabudo norteño, Porrón Europeo and Porrón Moñudo.

You can park by the cemetery at the end of Trent Port Road or by the end of the road near the Trent Port house. The main public footpaths can be found from the end of Trent Port Road. The site can also be accessed at the end of Littleborough Lane and walking along the public footpaths towards the river. The nearest postcode is DN21 5AR.
