RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including Chova Piquirroja, Águila Real, Aguilucho pálido, Halcón Peregrino and occasionally Guión de Codornices. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering Ánsar careto and in particular, Pardillo Piquigualdo. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. Águila Real is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.
