Descripción

Mortimer Forest is nearby to the historic town of Ludlow. The castle there was Henry 8th's holiday home. Halcón Peregrino and Milano Real may be seen soaring. Two species of woodpeckers, plus warblers, Trepador Azul, Agateador Euroasiático and Reyezuelo Sencillo. The only place in the world to see the longhaired fallow deer, discovered in the 1950s.

Three car parks on the edges of the forest. Marked trails ranging from 2 to 5 km are starting from every car park. The longest trail is the Climbing Jack Trail (marked on the map). This 14.5 km (9 miles) trail takes in the majority of Mortimer Forest. Passing through a variety of woodland types and habitats, this route provides the walker with superb views across the forest and surrounding countryside. Given the distance and terrain, this walk is designed for serious walkers with appropriate footwear.
