Descripción

A very easy to get to wetland/wooded area containing several pools and wooded areas. Very good for a wide variety of birds such as Lechuza Común, Búho Campestre, Busardo ratonero, Vencejo Común, Cormorán Grande, Zampullín Común, Somormujo Lavanco, Gavilán Común, Ánsar común as well as a great spot for migrants. If you are lucky, you might even see a Roe Deer or two, and there is also interesting archaeological site too.

Spring and summer see breeding waders flock to the reserve in huge numbers. Avefría Europea , Archibebe Común , Correlimos Común and Ostrero Euroasiático jostle for position with herons and egrets. Sometimes Chorlitejo Chico and Avoceta Común breed at Lunt Meadows. Other sightings have included everything from Cerceta Común , Combatiente to Agachadiza común and Aguja Colinegra.

Accesso

You can get a bus (X2) from Liverpool Center which drops you off at the start of Long Lane in Thornton. Get off the bus and walk down Long Lane, cross the junction at Lunt Road and continue down to the bottom of Broad Lane and you are there...

By car, you can get there by heading along the A565 from Crosby heading towards Southport, When you get to Long Lane, drive towards the junction at Lunt Road and turn right. The entrance to Lunt Meadows carpark is just a short drive from there, and is sign posted. Free car park. Donations welcomed. Opening hours are 9:30am - 6:30pm (summer) and 9:30am – 4:30pm (winter). Visitors can access the site outside opening hours but will need to park by the entrance gate and walk onto the site from there. If the gate is locked visitors are requested not to park in surrounding lanes to access the reserve.
