Descripción

Kingsbury Episcopi is overlooked by the 100 foot tower of the Grade 1 Listed St Martins Church. The Somerset Levels and Moors are mostly only 10 - 12 foot above sea level and are prone to severe flooding at times, the worst recorded flood was in 1607 where over 200 square miles became flooded, since then the average high tide is now more than 3 foot higher. During the winter of 2013-2014 extensive flooding (17,000 acres) cut off the village of Thorney. The River Parret, that drains 50% of the land area of Somerset, flows North West past the villages to the Bristol Channel at Burnham-on-Sea. BE AWARE KINGSBURY EPISCOPI GETS EXTREMELY BUSY DURING MAY DAY BANK HOLDAY.

Grulla Común (from the Somerset Crane Project) have been seen in the area. More often seen are Martín Pescador Común, Garceta Común and Garceta Grande. During Summer Collalba Gris, Rascón Europeo, Golondrina Común, Vencejo Común, Avión Común, Carricero Común, Carricerín Común and Lavandera Boyera are regularly seen.
