Descripción

Cromwell Bottom has had a turbulent past being a quarry, a tip for pulverised fly ash from the old Elland power station, a land fill site and now a nature reserve. Despite this human involvement, the nature reserve is now home to a wide variety of plants and animals. A short walk through a wooded area leads to a bird feeding station that has screens protecting the birds but with benches to sit on and watch the birds at close quarters. Birds you can see at the feeding station include: Camachuelo Común, Acentor Común, Jilguero Europeo, Pico Picapinos, Petirrojo Europeo, Pardillo Alpino and many more. There is also the canal with good towpaths to walk along and a meadow area. Other birds that can be seen or heard around the site include Martín Pescador Común, Mito Común, Jilguero Lúgano, Carbonero Montano, Trepador Azul, Serreta Grande and Avefría Europea.
