Descripción

Beaumont Park once in private hands, was donated to the City of Plymouth to be used as a public park and it first opened to the public in 1892. Even though it is of a small size, surrounded on all sides by housing, it is only a 10 minute walk from the City Centre. For such a small park it can be described as being a wooded area with many mature trees such as English Oak (Quercus), Beech (Fagus), Sycamore (Acer), with a very large Horse Chestnut (Aeschylus) to be found at it's centre. The large area of grass on it's Southern edge is maintained as a Summer Wildflower Meadow (press star on map). It is surrounded by a high wall on all sides (see below).

Whilst it's bird list comprises of mostly common species, as with most sites a few surprises can turn up at times, a Mosquitero Bilistado has been found in the recent past, with a Abubilla común making an appearance in the middle 80's, also Collalba Gris, Mirlo Capiblanco, Papamoscas Gris and Colirrojo Real are short staying visitors during Spring every year.

PLEASE BE AWARE, unusually of all Plymouth Parks this park is CLOSED and LOCKED OVER NIGHT, normal opening hours are 0730hrs to 1730hrs daily.
