Kyrkbytjärn is Falun's finest bird lake. Many bird species breed in the pond or surrounding soils and for birds that pass on spring and autumn migration, Kyrkbytjärn is an important resting place. What makes the pond so interesting to the birds is that it is shallow and nutritious. It provides a high production of aquatic plants, seeds and aquatic animals that provide food for the birds.
