Migrating birds (mostly waterfowl) can be found seen from Ekudden. Especially in autumn (September/Oktober). Then Thousands of Barnacla Cariblanca, Barnacla Carinegra, Silbón Europeo and Éider común have been seen. Hundreds of Cerceta Común, Ánade rabudo norteño, Negrón común and Negrón especulado have been migrating during the right weather.
On the Cobs around Kvädö large colonies of Cormorán Grande, Charrán ártico, Charrán Común, Gaviota Cana and Gaviota Reidora. There is also one of the few colonies of Pagaza Piquirroja in Sweden at Röskären. If the weather is harsh, arctic waders sometimes stop on the cobs. The cobs are also one of the best wintering areas for Correlimos Oscuro.
The open sea next to Ekudden is often open and holds large amounts of wintering Serreta Grande, Pato Havelda and Porrón Osculado. Smaller amounts of wintering Negrón común, Serreta Mediana, Tarro Blanco and Somormujo Lavanco can be found. During late autumn and winter large amounts (at most 3500) of Porrón Osculado and Porrón Moñudo winter at Licknewarpsfjärden. Serreta Chica, is found up until April but is most common in early December. Smaller amounts of dabbling ducks (Ánade friso, Silbón Europeo and Cerceta Común) and Porrón Europeo also winter in the bays. The large area of forests bring wintering Águila Real, Azor Común and Gavilán Común. The fields often hold wintering Busardo ratonero, and cobs Pigargo Europeo.
During spring resting loons have been seen. Passerine birds sometimes rest at Ekudden. Rare birds like Ruiseñor Pechiazul (northern subsp), Colirrojo Tizón, and Camachuelo Picogrueso have been seen. Grebes have been seen resting during the spring (Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Somormujo Lavanco (most common), and Zampullín Cuellirrojo) are often found.
