Descripción
Falsterbo Channel is the first place the migrating birds are reaching heading SW down on the Falsterbo peninsula.
The species that can be seen are the same as at Ljungen, ie. Abejero Europeo , Busardo ratonero , Gavilán Común , Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental , Aguilucho pálido , Milano Real , Milano Negro, Cernícalo vulgar , Alcotán Europeo and Águila Pescadora . Regularly are also seen Aguilucho Papialbo and on top of that, though less often, gems like Aguilucho Cenizo , Cigüeña Negra , Águila Moteada , Águila Pomerana , Águila Esteparia and Culebrera Europea.
The advantage to watch the migration from Falsterbo Channel is that the birds often are coming fairly low and that the birds that do hesitate often turn back over the channel before reaching Ljungen. The downside is that the observations often are quite short, even though you could drive down to Ljungen in time to see a precious bird ( at least the slow moving eagles) a second time.

The main point of the the migrating raptors is determined by the direction of the wind, something that becomes extra obvious at the Falsterbo Channel. Generally the birdwatchers are positioning themselfs along the channel to optimize this and the raptors are coming in a corridor above their heads.
BE AWARE!! There are car thiefs specialized on birdwatchers and their optics!! Never leave anything in the car. This goes for the whole area and other parts of Skåne.
