The village is located at 1353 meters and surrounded by two robust mountain ranges: the Sierra de la Cañada and the Tarrascón-Las Lastras. Its natural environment is dominated mainly by high, cool pastures and, above all, by the extensive sessile pine forests. But also orchards, streams and many stone walls. Walking the G8-trail or one of the many trails around the village of Fortanete guarantees observing interesting birds.
