Descripción

The steppe plains Estepas de Yecla are great for birdwatching. Plain or sparsely undulating surfaces make up most of the space. The area is dedicated to the extensive cultivation of cereal, there are many plots where, due to its low yield, they are abandoned and occupied by wasteland. Vineyards, almond and olive trees and pine or holm oak groves that surround the steppe are a refuge for different species of birds. The Estepas de Yecla of the Murcia region of the Altiplano, at the foot of the town of Yecla, offer the possibility of easily encountering some unique birds. Among them, the Avutarda Euroasiática, which visits these lands in winter. But also Sisón Común, Ganga Ibérica, Ganga Ortega and Críalo Europeo can be seen here.
