Descripción
Stepin Gaj is a forested area located in the southern part of Belgrade. Dirt paths go through the forest, which makes a route you can hike and watch birds on, while admiring nature around you. There are stunning views of the surrounding hills and forests. It is a rarely visited area, because of the lack of attention from birders, and the size and relative untidiness of the forest, unlike Topčider Park, Zvezdara Forest, and Košutnjak forest.
There are many species of forest birds that you can see here, like Picamaderos Negro, Cárabo Común, Agateador Europeo, Agateador Euroasiático, Pito Real, Pico Menor and Trepador Azul. There are other common species, such as Reyezuelo Sencillo, Reyezuelo Listado, Pico Picapinos, Herrerillo Común, Jilguero Lúgano, Pinzón Vulgar and Picogordo Común. There is likely a Chocha Perdiz population, but it isn't yet confirmed. Though there are multiple reports of the bird.

Many unmarked paths and trails are going all through the forest, so be careful that you don't get lost if you don't know the area well. Also, there are not many people at all, so it is best to go with other people if you plan on going deep in the forest.
