Descripción
Located on the mild northern Dedinje hill slopes Hyde Park enjoys a little bit colder micro-climate compared to the usual Belgrade city parks. The park is dominated by deciduous forest, with few conifers scattered through the forest itself and in the gardens of the surrounding households. In front of the Museum of Yugoslavia, there is a clearance with a fountain that often attracts various birds. The street southeast of the fountain leads to a little quiet square that often holds a few surprises.
The park hosts numerous woodpecker and thrush species. Picamaderos Negro, Pico Mediano, and Pico Picapinos can be found in the main forest, while Pito Real, Pico Menor, and Pico Sirio are at the forest edge or around the fountain. Zorzal Charlo is the park's regular winter guest, usually found on the trees around of the fountain and in the northern parts of the forest. Zorzal Real and Zorzal Alirrojo can also be found in winter, although they are not regular.
In summer, the main forest is full of Mirlo Comúns and Curruca Capirotadas. During migration, the park is visited by not-so-common species, including Escribano Soteño, Curruca Zarcerilla, Papamoscas Cerrojillo (spring), Mosquitero Silbador, and Papamoscas Gris (autumn).
Hyde Park is best visited in March and early April, although winter is also quite good season.
