Descripción
The village of Marahau is located on Sandy Bay and is the closest access point to the start of the Abel Tasman Coast Track. This track is a 60 kilometres long walking track within the Abel Tasman National Park. It is one of two main tracks through the park. The combination of Sandy Bay and (part of) the track is good for some nive birding. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Weka, Buff-banded Rail, Pied Stilt, South Island Oystercatcher, Variable Oystercatcher, Masked Lapwing and Double-banded Plover.
