Descripción
The ponds of the Blenheim water treatment plant (WTP) and the fields around host large numbers of waterfowl, but the highlight is the group of Glossy Ibis resident here in spring and summer. Another nice view are Black-fronted Tern regularly foraging on the ponds in summer and autmn. It is also worth taking a close look at the flocks of passerines as Cirl Bunting are regularly seen here.
The Wairau Lagoon Walkway also starts from the carpark at the WTP.

Accesso
The WTP is about an 8 minute drive from the centre of Blenheim, just off SH 1 following Hardings Road till the end. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates. While it is difficult to get a good look at the ponds from the carpark, you may talk with workers for access; according to locals going up the banks for a peek is generally allowed.
