Descripción
The Veluwezoom is located on the south side of the Veluwe where the higher sandy soils merge into the river IJssel valley. Much of the area has a fertile soil, which can be seen in the richer deciduous forests that can be found here. All kinds of forest birds can be seen from Picamaderos Negro to Piquitureto Común. Species such as Chotacabras Europeo and Tarabilla común can be found on the heaths, as well as Alcaudón Norteño in winter.

Nederlands: De Veluwezoom ligt aan de zuidkant van de Veluwe waar de hogere zandgronden overgaan in het IJsseldal. Een groot deel van het gebied heeft een loss-bodem, wat te zien is aan de rijkere loofbossen die hier te vinden zijn. Allerhande bosvogels komen er voor van zwarte specht tot kruisbek. Op de heidevelden komen soorten als nachtzwaluw en roodborsttapuit voor en 's winters ook klapekster.

There are plenty of options for visiting the area. Nice starting points are the parking lot on Beekhuizenseweg near the intersection with Alteveerselaan in Velp or the parking lot at the Veluwezoom visitor center at Heuvenseweg 5a in Rheden. Another way to explore the area is to take a 'NS' (Dutch Railway) walk. The train stations of Velp, Rheden and Dieren are all within walking distance of the relevant train station.

Mooie startpunten zijn de parkeerplaats aan de Beekhuizenseweg nabij de kruising met de Alteveerselaan in Velp of de parkeerkeerplaats bij het bezoekerscentrum Veluwezoom aan de Heuvenseweg 5a in Rheden. Een andere manier om het gebied te verkennen is door een NS-wandeling te maken. De treinstations van Velp, Rheden en Dieren liggen allemaal op loopafstand van het betreffende treinstation.
