The mussel beds in this part of the Wadden Sea are a good feeding ground for birds like Éider común , Zampullín Cuellinegro and, in winter, Colimbo Chico and/or Arao Común . When you're lucky, you may find a Zampullín Cuellirrojo or a Somormujo Cuellirrojo between the numerous Zampullín Cuellinegro , that gather here after the breeding season.

There is a parking lot along the IJsdijk and a maintenance road as well as a staircase going over the dike. Most of the birds can easily be seen from the dike. In winter, it may be interesting to search the outer rocks for Bisbita Costero and Escribano Nival.
