The area of Haarzuilens is known for the castle. Just outside the castle gardens, a beautiful nature reserve arises. nature has been restored since 2000. Forests have been planted, but a beautiful wet area has also been created. The area consists of three sections: Klein Nieuwkoop, Het Wielrevelt and Parkbos. Various birds can be seen here: a lot of falcons, but I have also spotted rare birds here such as Zarcero Políglota and Morito Común. The area is also home to colonies of Garza Real and Cormorán Grande. Other nice species are Cárabo Común, Martín Pescador Común and Picogordo Común. Also Aguja Colinegra, Archibebe Común, Zarcero Icterino, Papamoscas Gris, Carbonero Montano, Cuervo Grande and Ruiseñor Común can be seen here.

Nederlands: Haarzuilens in de buurt van de stad Utrecht staat bekend om het kasteel. Net buiten de kasteeltuinen is een prachtig natuurgebied ontstaan sinds de natuur daar sinds 2000 is hersteld. Er zijn bossen aangeplant, maar er is ook een prachtig nat gebied gemaakt. Het gebied bestaat uit drie delen: Klein Nieuwkoop, Het Wielrevelt en Parkbos. Diverse vogels zijn hier te zien: veel valken, maar ik heb hier ook zeldzame vogels gezien zoals Zarcero Políglota en Morito Común. Het gebied herbergt ook kolonies van Garza Real en Cormorán Grande. Andere leuke soorten zijn Cárabo Común, Martín Pescador Común en Picogordo Común. Ook Aguja Colinegra, Archibebe Común, Zarcero Icterino, Papamoscas Gris, Carbonero Montano, Cuervo Grande en Ruiseñor Común zijn hier te zien.
