In winter the forest is worth a visit for the early breeders and winter guests. Local birds that start early with breeding are Cuervo Grande, Piquitureto Común en Cárabo Común. Alcaudón Norteño winters on the heath. In early spring it's the right time for woodpeckers: Pico Mediano, Pico Menor, Pico Picapinos, Pito Real, Picamaderos Negro.
Early summer is the best time for Chotacabras Europeo. It can be seen and heard from the roads that are accesible at night. In the forests Azor Común, Abejero Europeo, Papamoscas Cerrojillo, Colirrojo Real, Herrerillo Capuchino and many other forest species can be found.
On the nearby gliding airport local birdwatchers do migration counts. Loads of birds and many rare species are seen each year.

Nederlands: Het Groesbeekse Bos is een groot bosgebied met naaldbos, loofbos en heide. In de winter is het bos een bezoek waard voor de vroege broedvogels en wintergasten. Vogels die vroeg beginnen met broeden zijn Cuervo Grande, Piquitureto Común en Cárabo Común. Alcaudón Norteño overwintert op de heide. In het vroege voorjaar is het de juiste tijd voor spechten: Pico Mediano, Pico Menor, Pico Picapinos, Pito Real en Picamaderos Negro.
De vroege zomer is de beste tijd voor Chotacabras Europeo. Die is te zien en te horen vanaf de wegen die 's nachts toegankelijk zijn. In de bossen zijn Azor Común, Abejero Europeo, Papamoscas Cerrojillo, Colirrojo Real, Herrerillo Capuchino en vele andere bossoorten te vinden.
Op het nabijgelegen zweefvliegveld doen lokale vogelaars vogeltrektellingen. Elk jaar worden daar massa's vogels en veel zeldzame soorten gezien.
