The Tuintjes are is one of the northernmost green areas on the Wadden Sea island of Texel. During the autumn migration, these are the first shrubs that birds encounter after crossing the North Sea. This makes it a magnet for songbirds in particular, who are looking for a safe place to catch their breath. With a bit of luck, you can find rare species such as Mosquitero Bilistado, Bisbita de Richard and Curruca Gavilana.

Nederlands: De Tuintjes zijn de voormalige tuintjes in de Texelse duinen die begroeid zijn met struwelen. Het is één van de meest noordelijke plekken van Texel. Tijdens de najaarstrek is dit het eerste struweelcomplex die vogels tegenkomen nadat ze de Noordzee zijn overgestoken. Hierdoor is het een magneet voor met name zangvogels die een veilige plek zoeken om op adem te komen. Met wat geluk kun je er zeldzame soorten vinden zoals Mosquitero Bilistado, Bisbita de Richard en Curruca Gavilana.

The Tuintjes are located north of the village of De Cocksdorp on the northernmost point of the island of Texel. Paid parking is available at the lighthouse. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot.
