Descripción

"De Regulieren" is a semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows. The central part of the area consists of open pastures with cattle. The surroundig fences are often used by Bisbita Pratense and Tarabilla común. In spring, when the vegetation of the pastures is still low, some areas contain damp meadows, which are used by mainly waders and ducks. Chorlitejo Chico, Combatiente and Aguja Colinegra can often be found on these parts. Pairs of Cerceta Común can also be found in the small ditches between these pastures. If you're lucky, you can hear Codorniz Común from within these pastures. Sometimes large herds of roe deer can be present. In the surrounding forests, species like Mosquitero Musical and Curruca Mosquitera breed and in the higher bushes species like Curruca Zarcerilla and Curruca Zarcera can be found. Also, Cuco Común and Oropéndola Europea breed in small numbers in the area. The area contains small patches of reedbeds, which are used by Carricero Común.

Many birds of prey make use of the area as hunting and breeding habitat. Many Busardo ratonero and Cernícalo vulgar can be found in the central part of the area. Alcotán Europeo hunts on dragonflies above the wet pastures and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter a Abejero Europeo. Also, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental uses the area to hunt for prey.

In winter, the central part of the area is low in numbers of birds. Sometimes, large flocks of Zorzal Real and Zorzal Alirrojo can be found here. The forests are used by mixed flocks of tits and finches. Small numbers of Reyezuelo Sencillo can also be found within these flocks. The surrounding pastures of the area are often used by large groups of Garceta Grande.

Accesso

There are two parkingspots (see P on the map) to access the area in which you'll be able to make a circular walk of about 4 km. Almost all of the trails are unpaved roads and on most of them you'll just walk on grass. After a rainy period, these roads can be very wet and dirty. There are several vantage points around to take a look over the central part of the area.
