Descripción

The Müllerthal region (Mëllerall in luxembourgish) is above all a unique biotope characterized by mixed forests with sandstone rock formations which are as beguiling as surprising. It is the unique composition of the rock and soil erosion that have contributed to the creation of this landscape so typical for the region. The diverse natural and geological heritage makes the region so special.

The forest hold really good numbers of forest birds, i.e. six species of Woodpeckers: Picamaderos Negro and Pico Mediano are numerous, Mosquitero Silbador and Herrerillo Capuchino are easily seen in spring. Búho Real and Halcón Peregrino are sedentary and Cigüeña Negra may be seen in the valley during spring and summer. Lookout for Mirlo-acuático Europeo and Martín Pescador Común along the streams.

Nature park "Mëllerdall" was founded in 2016. It is also a Geopark to focus on the fascinating geology of the region. The combination of Nature and Geopark speaks for the special meaning and protection of the landscape.
