Descripción
Palm Islands Nature Reserve used to host many breeders in the past. Today, due to high levels of disturbance (many tourists visit the island via a boat shuttle) only the Gaviota Patiamarilla still breeds on the island. Today, the island remains an excellent site for monitoring the large migration of waterbirds as well as well as potential observation and/or ringing of passerine migrants. The site is also interesting for wintering seabirds.
Birds that can be observed in the area include Cormorán Grande, Pelícano Común, Cerceta Carretona, Garza Real, Cigüeñuela común, Gaviota Reidora, Gaviota sombría, Cigüeña Blanca, Bisbita Alpino, Lavandera Blanca, Lavandera Cetrina, Lavandera Cascadeña, Charrán Patinegro, Avefría Europea, Charrán Común, Fumarel Aliblanco, Chorlitejo Chico, Garcilla Cangrejera, Cigüeña Negra, Silbón Europeo and Pardela Mediterránea.
