Descripción
The Hima itself (Protected area in arabic) is a publicly owned woodland of 38 ha (SPNL, 2014). Research conducted by SPNL and "Mercy Corps Association" have lead to the extension of the Hima to the Hasbani river to the east. The various habitats that cover the site make it favourable as a migratory stopover area for birds.
Via the European funded Bioconnect project (see link), the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon is advancing conservation efforts in this area as of 2025.

A local guide and/or birding guide is highly recommended. For security reasons, seeking information from local wildlife conservation NGOs and local authoritie's permission before birding is essential, as the area is not always safe and political conflicts still unresolved.
