Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s most iconic protected areas, celebrated for its wildlife (Black and White Rhinos, Rothschild’s Giraffe, Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, etc) and its rich birdlife.

The Muya Causeway is one of the hotspots for birding in Lake Nakuru National Park. This raised dam is surrounded on two sides by shallow water containing hundreds of birds (and some hippos). Birds you can see include Great White Pelican, Pink-backed Pelican, Black-winged Stilt, Common Ringed Plover, Three-banded Plover, Blacksmith Plover, Greater Flamingo, Little Grebe, African Openbill, Marabou Stork, Saddle-billed Stork, Yellow-billed Stork, Sacred Ibis, several species of heron and egrets and many other birds.
