The part of the lagoon that is located on the north-west side of Venice is a great place for birding. A very nice wetland full of waders and waterbirds.

There are many species that can be observed in the laguna Veneta all seasons of the year. For some years there are also Flamenco Común breeding. Other special birds you could see here are Halcón Peregrino, Carraca Europea, Críalo Europeo, Tarro Canelo, Porrón Pardo, Garcilla Bueyera and Zarapito Real. A total amount of over 450 thousand waterfowl live throughout the lagoon. And today there are more than 8,000 Flamenco Común that winter in the lagoon.
