The mouth of the Coghinas river has been identified by the Bird Life International as an IBA (Important Birds Area). The vegetation is lush everywhere, with rushes and reeds both along the banks and at the mouth, characterised by sand dunes. The bird species that can be observed include Chorlitejo patinegro, Cigüeñuela común, Charrancito Común, Garceta Común, Martinete Común, Archibebe Claro, Cistícola Buitrón and Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental.
