Descripción
Birding at Ljóskastarahúsið is usually rewarding in one way or another. During migration, thousands of seabirds, like Gaviota Tridáctila, Arao Común, Alca Común, Fulmar Boreal and Frailecillo Atlántico pass the westernmost point on the Seltjarnarnes peninsula. In summer, birds like Alcatraz Atlántico and Fulmar Boreal can be seen feeding, and if you're lucky, a Pardela Pichoneta or a Pardela Sombría might pass. In the wintertime, the sea hosts Pato Havelda, Cormorán Moñudo and you might be able to find a Mérgulo Atlántico.
Visit Ljóskastarahúsið when the wind is strong, preferably towards land and the Reykjavík bay. Not many Icelandic birders spend time seawatching, so chances are high that you'll be the one yelling "albatross!". Remember to check the ponds and shoreline on your way to and from.
