Descripción
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Pardillo Norteño, Zorzal Alirrojo and Chochín Común. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Pinzón Vulgar, Pinzón Real and Camachuelo Común have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Lagópodo Alpino. The area is also used as hunting ground by Halcón Gerifalte.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Porrón Islándico, Porrón Bastardo, Falaropo Picofino, Serreta Mediana and Pato Havelda.
