The National Gardens of Athens are centrally located. This is a great place for a birding escape, right in the middle of the city center. Resident species include Curruca Cabecinegra, Mirlo Común, Carbonero Común, Herrerillo Común. Spring migration can be phenomenal with Papamoscas Acollarado, Abubilla común or Vencejo Real, while winter hosts species that come from Northern Europe to spend the winter in Athens, such as Picogordo Común, Jilguero Lúgano and Zorzal Común.
